​Founded in 2022 by an ex-primary headteacher, Better Balance Education has developed strong, trusting working relationships with many schools, both primary and secondary, in the East of England. We take a slightly different approach to school improvement than many. We don't focus on Ofsted, the curriculum, software solutions or training on how to do the job, not that there is anything wrong with any of that. Instead, we focus on empowering and optimising what you already have, your team. We do this through a mixture of support, education and empowerment. Our approach is based on the belief that the most precious people in any school are the pupils and therefore, the most important resource are the staff. Our work focuses on supporting the adults in the school to be at their very best for the children. We also have the advantage of being independent and impartial, meaning we are far more likely to be able to navigate what may be tricky issues and get to the heart of the matter.

Our work is based on strong, local knowledge and we are slowly expanding into more parts of the UK as we build a network of regional associates. These are all ex-school leaders who have lived the pressures of the job and have strong empathy for those that work in the front line of schools. We offer a series of good value packages for schools, as well as a pay as you go service. Schools that buy a package can purchase additional hours at a discount depending on which package they have.

Support
We are all so much more aware these days of the importance of our mental health, yet leaders, teachers and other staff often put everyone else's mental health above theirs. We can be the support that makes the difference, enabling you to be at your best. We are great listeners and we can also offer insights based on our own experiences, as well as that of research. You know what you are doing, we just support you in doing it well.

Educate
By proactively taking steps to understand your own mental health, as well as recognising the things you can do to support yourself and your colleagues, you can make you and your team more resilient to the challenges of the job. Our CPD and resources aim to do this in a practical and realistic way. There is no magic bullet, but there are proactive tools and techniques that can make a difference on a day to day basis.

Empower
We work side by side with you to ensure that you have the tools to enhance the wellbeing, harmony and efficiency of your team. We always strive to identify hidden strengths, issues and nuances that will empower you and your team to be the very best and the most resilient that they can be. Our comprehensive, tried and tested bespoke staff surveys are an example of this. Year on year, they build and refine your understanding and ability to shape your team.
